Instructions
Air Fryer
Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel. Removing excess moisture helps them crisp up instead of steaming.
Slice the fillets into strips or small bite-sized pieces, depending on your dog's size. Thinner strips (about ¼ inch) will get crispier; thicker chunks stay chewier.
Preheat your air fryer to 175C/375°F for about 3 minutes.
Arrange the cod pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Don't overcrowd them, or they'll steam instead of crisp.
Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the outside is golden and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
Let cool completely before serving. Fish holds heat, so give it a few extra minutes.
Oven Baked Option
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slice the cod as described above and arrange in a single layer, leaving space between pieces.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping once, until firm and lightly golden.
Cool fully before serving.
Dehydrator Option (For Longer-Lasting Treats)
Slice the cod into thin, even strips, about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick.
Arrange the strips on dehydrator trays without overlapping.
Dehydrate at 145°F (63°C) for 6-8 hours, checking at the 6-hour mark. The treats are done when they're firm and dry all the way through, with no soft or moist spots.
Let cool completely before storing.
