Treat your dog to a gluten-free apple pie made with oat flour, coconut flour, and a cinnamon-spiced apple filling. This homemade pie is a wholesome and tasty delight that’s perfect for special occasions or just because!
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place 7 silicon muffin liners in a muffin pan.
In a medium mixing bowl, mix 1 cup of oat flour and ½ cup of coconut flour.
Stir in ¼ cup of applesauce, 1 egg, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a small amount of water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until it comes together.
Cut the dough into 7 pieces and press the dough into the silicon muffin cases.
Make the Filling
Peel, core, and chop the 2 apples into small pieces.
In a small saucepan, combine the chopped apples, 2 tablespoons of water, 1 tablespoon of applesauce, and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft but not mushy.
Let the filling cool slightly before spooning it into the prepared pie crusts.
Assembly
Spoon the apple mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
If you reserved some dough, cut it into strips and arrange them in a lattice pattern over the filling, or place a smaller rolled-out piece of dough on top.
Bake
Place the pies in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Let the apple pies cool to room temperature before giving it to your dog.
