Pumpkin Bone Broth Gummies For Dogs

Spread the love

These pumpkin bone broth gummies for dogs are an easy homemade treat made with just three ingredients. Pumpkin gives them a naturally creamy texture, while bone broth adds a savory flavor that makes them much more exciting than your average fruity gummy.

They’re especially handy as a small reward, a cool treat on a warm day, or simply a fun way to add a little variety to your dog’s treat jar. We add one or two to our dog’s dinner bowl and nothing gets left behind.

Why Your Dog Will Love Them

Pumpkin and bone broth make a surprisingly good combination for dogs. The pumpkin gives the gummies a soft, slightly creamy texture, while bone broth provides the meaty aroma and flavor most dogs find hard to resist.

They’re also easy to portion. Using small silicone molds lets you make bite-sized treats for smaller dogs or slightly larger gummies for bigger pups.

Ingredients

Only 3 ingredients make this soft dog treat recipe.

Three ingredients on a marble surface: a bowl of plain pumpkin purée, a bowl of dog-friendly bone broth, and a packet of Dr. Oetker gelatine—perfect for making homemade pumpkin bone broth gummies for dogs.

Pumpkin puree: Plain cooked pumpkin provides fiber along with nutrients including beta-carotene. Make sure you use plain pumpkin puree, rather than pumpkin pie filling, which contains added sugar and spices.

Bone broth: Adds moisture and plenty of savory flavor. For the bone broth, choose homemade or one made specifically for dogs or check the ingredients carefully. It should contain no onion, garlic, excessive salt, or other seasonings.

Gelatin: This is what turns the pumpkin and broth into firm gummies. Use plain, unflavored and unsweetened gelatin with no added sweeteners or flavorings.

How to Make Dog Gummies with Pumpkin and Bone Broth

This is a quick and easy recipe to make. We use various silicone molds but you could make these treats using ice cube trays too.

Dog Gummies Recipe Tips

If your pumpkin puree is particularly thick, whisk it thoroughly into the warm broth before filling the molds. A small jug or squeeze bottle can also make filling tiny silicone molds considerably less messy.

For softer gummies, you could reduce the gelatin slightly, but 3 tablespoons works well for a firm treat that holds its shape when removed from the mold.

PAWSOME GUMMY TIP

How to get perfect gummies every time

● Warm the mixture gently — don’t let it boil, or the gelatin can lose some of its setting power.
● Pour into silicone molds using a small measuring jug or squeeze bottle to avoid spills.
● Refrigerate rather than freeze to set the gummies. Once set, you can freeze them for longer storage.
● For firmer gummies, use 3½ tablespoons gelatin instead of 3 tablespoons.

How Many Gummies Does This Make?

The exact yield depends on your molds. The recipe makes roughly 1 cup of gummy mixture, so small gummy molds may produce around 30–50 treats, while larger paw or bone-shaped molds will produce considerably fewer.

Storage

Keep the pumpkin bone broth gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days.

They can also be frozen for around 2–3 months. You can serve them frozen for dogs that enjoy a firmer treat or thaw them in the refrigerator before serving.

Feeding

These should be given as a treat rather than a complete meal or dietary supplement. Start with a small amount if your dog hasn’t had pumpkin, bone broth or gelatin before.

As with all treats, portion size should take your dog’s size, usual diet and daily calorie intake into account.
