Are Salmon and Eggs Good for Dogs?

Yes! Both salmon and eggs are excellent ingredients for healthy homemade dog treats.

Cooked salmon is one of the best natural sources of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, helping support healthy skin, a shiny coat, joints and brain function.

Eggs are highly digestible and provide complete protein, essential amino acids and vitamins that help support muscle maintenance and overall wellbeing.

Combined with zucchini, they create a balanced, flavorful recipe that’s both nutritious and delicious.

Why Your Dog Will Love These

Dogs are naturally drawn to the rich flavour of salmon, while the eggs create a light, fluffy texture that’s easy to eat.

Because these mini frittatas are moist rather than crunchy, they’re especially popular with puppies, senior dogs and dogs that prefer softer treats. If you are looking for more soft treat recipes, check out our collection HERE.

They’re also easy to crumble over meals for an instant protein boost.

Ingredients

We added hemp hearts and eggshell powder which are entirely optional but help with the nutrition of this recipe.

A flat lay of labelled ingredients for Air Fryer Salmon Dog Frittata, including eggs, cooked salmon, grated courgette, cottage cheese, hemp hearts, curly parsley, and eggshell powder on a light surface.

Cooked salmon – Salmon is an excellent source of lean protein and healthy fats. It provides omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, selenium and B vitamins, making it one of the healthiest fish you can offer your dog.

Eggs – contain all the essential amino acids dogs need, along with vitamins A, D, E and several B vitamins.

Zucchini – Zucchini adds moisture without adding many calories. It’s naturally rich in fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants while helping keep these frittatas wonderfully soft.

Cottage Cheese – adds extra creaminess and protein.

Curly Parsley – adds freshness while supplying vitamins A, C and K.

Eggshell Powder (optional) – If serving these as part of a homemade meal, eggshell powder provides a natural source of calcium to help balance the phosphorus found in salmon and eggs. If you’re serving the frittatas purely as treats, it’s perfectly fine to leave it out.

Hemp Hearts (optional) – Stir in 1 tablespoon of hemp hearts for an extra boost of plant protein, healthy fats, vitamin E and minerals.
