These easy baked cinnamon dog treats are flavored with the warm spices of cinnamon and ginger for a great grain free snack. These baked dog treats are a good option if you want a baked treat without banana or peanut butter.

The cinnamon offers antimicrobial properties and may help regulate blood sugar levels, while ginger adds a hint of spice and aids in digestion.

Is cinnamon safe for dogs?

Cinnamon is generally safe for dogs in small amounts, but it's important to use it in moderation. Cinnamon can provide certain health benefits for dogs, such as its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It may also help regulate blood sugar levels and improve brain function in older dogs.

Some dogs may have allergies or sensitivities to cinnamon. If you're introducing cinnamon to your dog's diet for the first time, monitor them closely for any adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal upset, skin irritation, or allergic reactions.

Remember to go slowly when introducing new foods. And we recommend checking with your veterinarian first if your dog has any digestive issues or other health concerns.

Ingredients

With just a handful of ingredients, you can make a batch of dog treats.

cinnamon dog treat ingredients
  • Rice flour - Any other flour could be substituted.
  • Cinnamon - Use Ceylon cinnamon, also known as "true" cinnamon, as it is considered safer for dogs compared to the stronger variety known as Cassia cinnamon.
  • Ginger - ground
  • Coconut oil - extra virgin is recommended
  • Egg - great source of protein
  • Water - you may need water to bind the dough.
