Ingredients

Just 3 ingredients make this homemade kitty treat.

A bowl with raw chicken breast, an egg, and a small glass container of pumpkin puree on a white surface, each labeled as an ingredient.

Chicken Breast:
Lean, protein-rich chicken breast is the star of this recipe. It provides essential amino acids that support strong muscles and overall health. Using cooked, unseasoned chicken ensures your cat gets all the benefits without any added salt or spices.

Pumpkin Puree:
Pumpkin is gentle on feline stomachs and great for digestive health. It adds natural fibre, vitamins A and C, and a subtle sweetness your cat will enjoy. Be sure to use plain pumpkin puree โ€” not pumpkin pie filling, which can contain sugar and spices.

Egg:
The egg acts as a natural binder, helping the treats hold together while adding extra protein and nutrients like biotin and vitamin D for healthy skin and coat.

Recipe Tips

  • If the mixture seems too thick to blend smoothly, add a teaspoon of water or chicken broth (unsalted) at a time until it reaches a soft, workable consistency.
  • For crunchy treats – Bake the treats a little longer โ€” about 18โ€“20 minutes โ€” until theyโ€™re lightly browned and firm. Cats that like a bit of crunch will love them!
  • For soft treats – Reduce the baking time slightly (around 10โ€“12 minutes) to keep the centre tender, ideal for kittens or senior cats.
  • Small silicone molds (fish, hearts, or paw prints) make these treats extra cute and easy to portion.
  • Always let the treats cool fully before offering them to your cat to prevent burns and help them firm up.

Storage Tips

Refrigeration:
Store the cooled treats in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. This helps keep them fresh and safe for your cat to enjoy throughout the week.

Freezing:
For longer storage, place the treats in a freezer-safe container or zip-lock bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost a few at a time in the fridge overnight before serving.

Serving tip:
Always serve the treats at room temperature or slightly chilled โ€” most cats prefer them cool, especially if youโ€™re using real meat.

Check freshness:
Because these treats contain fresh ingredients and no preservatives, discard any that develop an off smell or change in texture.
