Spirulina for Dogs
Spirulina is rich in nutrients such as protein, vitamins, and minerals, which could potentially offer some health benefits for dogs. These may include immune support, improved coat condition, and increased energy levels.
Remember to go slowly when introducing new foods. And we recommend checking with your veterinarian first if your dog has any digestive issues or other health concerns.
Ingredients
Just a few ingredients with dog friendly coloring are used to make these easy frozen dog Easter treat. Frozen treats can be a great way to help keep your dog hydrated, especially on warmer days. Consider adding a bit of water or low-sodium broth to the mixture for added hydration.
- Banana - a ripe banana mashes well.
- Greek yogurt - look for Greek yogurt that is plain and unsweetened.
- Peanut butter - use natural peanut butter that contains only peanuts. Avoid peanut butter with added sugar, artificial sweeteners (such as xylitol, which is toxic to dogs), hydrogenated oils, or other additives.
- Coconut oil - coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), particularly lauric acid, which is believed to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
- Turmeric - used to color the Easter dog treats yellow.
- Blue spirulina - a natural way of coloring the frozen treats blue.

Recipe tips
Select Easter-themed treats that are safe and appropriate for dogs. Look for treats shaped like Easter eggs, bunnies, carrots or use silicone molds to create fun shapes.
Feel free to experiment with different flavor combinations to keep things interesting for your dog. You can add ingredients like pumpkin puree, shredded chicken or blueberries to vary the flavor and nutritional content of the treats.
Storage
Once the dog treats have frozen, remove them from the silicone mold and store the frozen treats in an airtight container or freezer bag to prevent freezer burn and maintain freshness. They can be kept in the freezer for several weeks.
