Homemade Lamb Stew For Dogs

Spread the love

This homemade lamb stew for dogs recipe is an easy one pot dish that is full of protein, nutrient-rich organ meats with vegetables. It’s full of flavor, easy on digestion and your dog will love it.

We saw some reasonable priced diced lamb for sale, so thought “let’s make a hearty stew for the dogs”. The great thing about the stew is that you get a light natural broth with the dish, which helps slow down my fast eating boy as he slurps through the liquid.

Our dogs loved this as lamb cooking is one of the meats that gets Teddy pacing in the kitchen, awaiting to taste test the recipe. This can be served as a meal or topper and ground lamb can be used in place of the diced lamb.

Is Lamb Good For Dogs?

Lamb is a highly nutritious and flavorful protein that can be a great addition to your dog’s diet

  • Supports muscle growth, repair, and overall body function
  • Contains iron, zinc, and B vitamins for energy and immune health
  • Lamb is often considered a novel protein, so it can work well for dogs with food sensitivities to chicken or beef

That said, lamb is typically higher in fat than some other proteins, so portion control is important—particularly for dogs that are less active or prone to weight gain or pancreatitis.

The Ingredients

If you can’t find lamb organs and your dog does not have a beef allergy, use beef organs. We were fortunate that a store sells all the lamb ready chopped. A relief to me with the kidney as that’s something I do not like to handle whole and cut up!
