Halloween Dog Treats
These pumpkin-flavored Halloween dog treats will have your dog howling with delight! They are fun to make too! Made with wholesome gluten-free ingredients, theyโre perfect for adding a touch of festive fun to your furry friendโs snack time.
The natural pumpkin gives a vibrant orange color, perfect for Halloween, while the gentle hint of cinnamon adds a delightful aroma. We made these ghost cookie shapes after seeing a TikTok video for cookies and thought to try this for our dogs.

Ingredients
Just 4 ingredients make these ghostly Halloween dog cookies.

- Pumpkin Purรฉe – Rich in fiber and nutrients, pumpkin purรฉe is a dog-friendly superfood that supports digestion and overall gut health. It adds natural sweetness and moisture to these treats, making them tasty and easy to chew. We use our homemade pumpkin puree but plain canned pumpkin can be used.
- Cinnamon – A pinch of cinnamon brings a warm and comforting scent to these treats, giving them a hint of seasonal spice. Cinnamon also has anti-inflammatory properties that may benefit your dogโs health. Just make sure to use Ceylon cinnamon, which is safer for dogs than the common Cassia variety.
- Rice Flour – A gluten-free flour thatโs gentle on dogsโ stomachs, rice flour creates a smooth dough thatโs easy to work with. It adds structure to the treats while keeping them light and crunchy.
- Coconut Oil -This healthy fat adds a delicious flavor and beneficial nutrients to the treats. Coconut oil can help promote a shiny coat, healthy skin and boost energy levels.

How to Make Halloween Dog Treats
We cut out the ghost eyes and mouth using a round piping nozzle. Some cookies were just left with the eyes to give the dogs more cookie! The ghost shapes are made with a heart cookie cutter, with the shape cut in half.

Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl.

Form into a dough.

Roll the dough and use heart shaped cookie cutters.

Cut the heart shapes in half.

Tweak the ghost tail and use a piping nozzle to cut out eyes and mouth.

Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake until firm.
Recipe Tips
If the dough is too dry, add more pumpkin puree until it becomes pliable.
For some variety, consider adding a tablespoon of peanut butter (make sure itโs xylitol-free) or a sprinkle of dried parsley, which is safe for dogs and freshens their breath.
Get creative with different Halloween-themed cookie cutters like bones, bats, or spooky shapes!

Storage
For longer shelf life, place the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Theyโll stay fresh for up to one month this way. Refrigeration is a good option if you live in a warmer or humid climate.
Freezing
Freeze the treats in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to three months. To prevent them from sticking together, you can freeze them on a baking sheet first, then transfer them to the bag. Just thaw the treats at room temperature for a few minutes before serving.
