Ingredients

We do not use baking powder in our dog’s baked goods. Although a large quantity of baking powder can be dangerous for dogs, we do not take any risks, with even a small amount, in case of any reaction. Dogs are not Mary Berry, looking for a light sponge!

A bowl of oat flour, a jar of Greek yoghurt, three strawberries, a banana, and an egg, each labelled as ingredients for strawberry banana pupcakes on a white surface.

Strawberries are naturally low in calories and contain vitamin C, fibre, and antioxidants, which can help support immune health and overall wellbeing. They also add natural sweetness without the need for added sugar.

Banana provides potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and fibre. It helps give these pupcakes their soft texture while offering gentle energy and supporting muscle and nerve function.

Egg is a great source of high-quality protein and contains essential amino acids, along with vitamins such as B12 and riboflavin. It supports healthy muscles, skin, and coat.

Oat flour is a wholesome, gluten-free grain option that contains fibre and important nutrients like iron and magnesium. Itโ€™s often easier for dogs to digest than wheat-based flours and helps give structure to the pupcakes.

Greek yogurt adds protein, calcium, and beneficial probiotics (if using plain, unsweetened yogurt), which can support digestive health. It also contributes to the moist, tender crumb of the finished treat.

Recipe Tips for Perfect Strawberry Banana Pupcakes

The riper the banana, the sweeter and softer your pupcakes will be. Soft, fragrant strawberries also blend more easily and distribute flavour better throughout the batter.

If your dog hasnโ€™t had oats or dairy before, introduce these pupcakes in small amounts first to make sure they tolerate the ingredients well.

These pupcakes are naturally moist, so silicone moulds or paper liners make them much easier to remove without sticking.

Pupcake Frosting Suggestions

Want to make these pupcakes extra special? Here are some simple, dog-friendly frosting ideas that pair perfectly with the fruity flavour:

Strawberry Yogurt Swirl – Mix plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt with a spoonful of mashed strawberries for a naturally pink, creamy topping. Chill briefly before spreading for a thicker texture.

Banana Yogurt Frosting – Blend a little ripe banana into Greek yogurt for a smooth, lightly sweet frosting that complements the pupcake base beautifully.

Peanut Butter Yogurt Frosting – Stir a small amount of natural peanut butter (xylitol-free) into Greek yogurt for a protein-rich, irresistible topping. This is always a crowd-pleaser with pups!

Cream Cheese Frosting (Occasional Treat) – Mix a small amount of plain cream cheese with mashed banana or strawberry. This is richer, so best saved for birthdays or special celebrations.

Simple Oat & Yogurt Glaze – For a lighter option, thin Greek yogurt with a splash of water and drizzle it over the top instead of fully frosting.

Storage & Freezing Instructions

Because these Strawberry Banana Pupcakes are made with fresh fruit and Greek yogurt, they should be stored properly to keep them safe and fresh for your pup.

Refrigerator
Once completely cooled, place the pupcakes in an airtight container and store them in the fridge. Theyโ€™ll stay fresh for up to 4โ€“5 days. If youโ€™ve added a yogurt topping, refrigeration is especially important.

Freezer
These pupcakes freeze very well. Arrange them in a single layer on a tray to freeze individually, then transfer to a freezer-safe container or bag. This prevents them from sticking together. They can be frozen for up to 2โ€“3 months.

Serving From Frozen
Simply thaw a pupcake in the fridge overnight or at room temperature for a short time before serving. You can also give them slightly chilled on a warm day for a refreshing treat.
