CAN DOGS EAT MEATLOAF?

The meatloaf you eat may not be a good choice for your dog as it could have onions or garlic in it which should not be fed to dogs. There's also a chance it will have spices and MSG that dogs cannot have.

Creating a dog friendly meatloaf recipe is an easy way to ensure that they enjoy a dinner treat too. Try our mini chicken meatloaves or lamb meatloaf for another protein packed meal.

HOW TO MAKE TURKEY MEATLOAF FOR DOGS

This is an easy one bowl recipe and has a great balance of meat, vegetables and rice. The vegetables are grated and finely chopped for easy digestion and to keep the loaf moist.

Pumpkin puree helps keep the meatloaf moist and is a great vegetable for dogs. We use our homemade. If you use tinned, DO NOT use pumpkin pie filling. Check the labels for any ingredients unsuitable for dogs.

Flaxseed was used to bind the meatloaf in place of breadcrumbs. This ensures that the doggie meatloaf is gluten free. This could be substituted with a dog friendly flour if you don't have flaxseed.

The fresh parsley is used for their antioxidants and health benefits.

HOW TO STORE TURKEY VEGGIE MEATLOAF

Store this turkey meatloaf in the fridge in a sealed container. We cut ours into slices and chunks for easier future dinners and snacks. It should keep for up to 4 days.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can this Dog Meatloaf be Frozen?

You can freeze this meatloaf for later use and it should last about 3 months in the freezer. Slice the meatloaf and place parchment paper in between slices to stop it sticking. Place in a ziplock bag or air tight container.
Defrost in the fridge. If you wish to serve this warm, reheat in the oven for 15 minutes until warm through. Just ensure it is not too hot before serving

Can you use different vegetables?

The vegetables can be varied. Swap the broccoli for kale or spinach.

Can I make a smaller meatloaf?

Use mini loaf tins for small loafs.

    Hello Angela
just wanted to say a huge thankyou for the recipes,
we have no problems with him eating now, plate cleared every meal time,
I was just wondering if the meat loaf could be cooked in the slow cooker, and what setting would be best, it would be great if it could be, I am going to try the stew next but have no worries about him eating it.
thankyou again for some super recipes
    Cathy.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I have not tried this in a slow cooker but would guess that you could make it at high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 until meatloaf reaches internal temperature of 160 degrees. Glad your dog enjoys the recipes as much as mine do!
